Terms of service
Last updated 29 July 2026
These terms cover your use of safelearning.academy. They are written to be read, not to be skimmed past. If something here is unclear, write to us and we will explain it.
What Safe Learning Academy is
We are a curation service. We watch educational videos that are published on YouTube, decide which ones belong in a children’s library, and arrange the ones we keep into ordered collections. We then show them in a stripped-down player with no suggestions, no comments, and no path out to the wider internet.
We do not host, own, or control the videos themselves. They are streamed from YouTube and remain the property of the channels that made them. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of YouTube or Google.
Because the videos come from YouTube, they play under YouTube’s own terms, and they may carry advertising that YouTube inserts and controls. We do not place those ads, we do not receive money from them, and we cannot remove them. Your membership pays us for curation and for the tools around the video, never for the video itself.
Accounts
An account belongs to a parent or guardian aged 18 or over. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has gained access to it.
Child profiles are not accounts. They are a setting stored on your own device, and they do not have logins of their own. See the privacy policyfor what this means for your children’s information.
Membership and billing
- New accounts get 24 hours of full access from the moment they are created.
- After that, an active membership is needed to open the library.
- Memberships are $49 per year or $5 per month, in US dollars, and renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- If a renewal payment fails, we keep your access open for a short grace period while you update your card. If it is still failing after that, access pauses until payment succeeds.
You can cancel at any time from the billing page in your account. See the refunds and cancellation policy for what happens to the rest of a paid period.
We may change prices. If we do, we will tell you by email before it affects you, and the new price will only ever apply from your next renewal — never mid-period.
What you may and may not do
Your membership is for one family’s personal, non-commercial use. Please do not share your account credentials outside your household, use the service in a school or other institution without arranging that with us first, try to scrape or republish our collections, or attempt to interfere with the service or its security.
What we promise, and what we do not
We promise that a human being has watched what we publish, and that we will remove anything that turns out not to belong. That is the substance of what you are paying for.
We cannot promise that YouTube will keep every video available, that a channel will not later publish something we would not have chosen, or that the service will never be interrupted. Videos sometimes disappear or are made private by their owners without warning; when that happens we remove them from the collections.
The service is provided as is, without warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Ending things
You may stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is used to harm other people, or where we are required to by law. If we close your account for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the unused part of what you have paid.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you by email and give you the chance to cancel before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means the new terms apply.
